About Eli

Eli Thompson founded the Boston Posture Center in 1999 and has been practicing Structural Integration for over 20 years. His background of mechanical engineering allows him to understand the complex, interdependent relationships in the body and the problematic biomechanics that can arise from structural imbalance. Eli’s years of martial arts and movement training help him guide his clients to a different understanding of their bodies and how to live in a softer, healthier way. He was a senior teacher at Tom Myer’s School of Anatomy Trains from 2005 until the covid pandemic. He traveled through-out the United States, South and Central America, and Europe giving lectures, teaching 2-5 day workshops, and mentoring teacher trainees.

In 2005, Eli started Benchworks: the Bodyworkers Bench. An innovative design allowed the seat height to be adjusted by sliding up and down channels to different resting points. The bench production was computer automated for precision and the Finnish Birch plywood made for beautiful colors and esthetics. After supplying hundreds of benches to the Structural Integration community, Eli has put Benchworks production on hold.

In 2007, Eli started Tensegri-Teach: dynamic educational teaching tools. The principles of Tensegrity and BioTensegrity are wonderful and very relevant to human form and function, however, without a model in ones hand it’s often hard to understand beyond the intellectual idea of it. With a model it becomes obvious. Tensegri-Teach.com offers a Pelvis, a 6-Dowel, a 12-Dowel, and a mini 6-Dowel.

Eli lives in Brookline with his wife, three kids, and three dogs.
